Recording captured by Paul Pyle. Heard singing at approximately 7:15 am. Slow tempo warble with sharp notes and low hoarse notes mixed in. This was not a mimid I typically hear in the Sierra Nevada, and being from Michigan, I recognized it as GRCA. Viewed briefly singing from exposed perch before it disappeared. All gray, smaller than a robin, with a long tail. Although I did not see any definitive markings such as the black cap and rufous under tail coverts, the size, shape, and overall color/gestalt plus song were in line with the many GRCA I've observed in Michigan. Paul Pyle, the next door neighbor, also heard the unusual for the area song and recorded it. He was able to see a black cap, dark eye, and dark bill and thought it was a GRCA.
