Recording only for my historical Texas County birding record. This bird was seen by many and is well-documented in eBird. After driving all night from the Fort Worth area, we began searching at dawn for the Jabiru at the last posted location from the evening before. A man sped up and yelled to the large group that the bird was further down the road. There was a mad dash for cars and a caravan to where the Jabiru was about 100 yards north of a road, feeding in a flooded field with several species of egrets and herons. It was a thrill to see this large prehistoric-looking bird! No one tried to approach the bird as it slowly walked a bit closer towards the road (75 yards). It then took flight and flew out of sight to our left. Many people took off in cars to try to relocate it. The attached photo was taken with my pocket camera and zoomed in.
