At least two catbirds have made it to Barcelona on the Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas. We had four the other day but it’s tricky counting them as they weave back and forth. The birds were on the ship with us from the U.S. and have been staying in the "Central Park" area of the ship. With elaborate vegetation, the birds seem right at home. Early in the trip, the catbirds flew out and circled the ship in the middle of the Atlantic. At least these few decided to stay with the ship. Oasis has stopped at four ports prior to Barcelona: Cadiz, Alicante, Malaga, and Valencia and the catbirds have been seen each morning and evening onboard the ship. This ship is scheduled to work the Mediterranean Sea this summer. Will they stay on the ship all summer??? That is the question. If Gray Catbirds appear in Europe, this might be your answer. The attached photos are from this morning in Barcelona onboard the ship. Yes, the birds are perched in trees onboard the ship.
