Two adult Gray Hawks were seen flying over us once and we heard them calling multiple times. This is a known location for this species. I also photographed a juvenile hawk standing on a branch in riparian area along the Lion Trail. Initially I had this identified as a juvenile Sharp-shinned Hawk, however the eBird reviewer noted that this was actually a juvenile Gray Hawk. I have never seen a juvenile Gray Hawk before (only adults), so I didn't even consider this when assigning an ID. The face pattern shows a creamy supercilium, dark eye line, dark malar stripe, and creamy throat and light cheek. The underside of the long tail is white with at least 5 (possibly 6, one mostly hidden by the legs) dark bands, with the subterminal dark band being the widest. The leg feathers are finely barred. See attached photos.
