The national bird of Costa Rica visiting a feeder in the rain, taken through a window in the visitor's center. Formerly a very rare visitor to southern Texas, but it has increased in resent years. Breeding was first documented in 2002 and it now breeds regularly in south Texas. It was removed from the Texas Bird Records Committee Review List in 1998. Geographic variation is slight, but ten races recognized. This one is "T. g. tamaulipensis" breeding from Texas into Mexico. It is slightly more olive above and more creamy-buff below. Formerly called Clay-colored Robin, its name was changed to Clay-colored Thrush in the 49th supplement to the AOS checklist. This change applies to most of the neotropical thrushes in the genus "Turdus", but not to the American Robin which inconsistently retains the surname "Robin."
