Apparent second calendar year juvenile light-morph bird feeding in corn stubble. Originally stopped to check for shorebirds while waiting for the rain to stop, but paused when I noticed the pale-headed raptor nearby where a RTHA had taken flight. After a thorough drenching and scope wiping, I captured a few videos. In pouring rain, it appeared to be a long-winged Buteo with little to no back markings, very pale head and underparts, with a variety of faint markings along the bird's flanks and undertail areas. Many marks were hard to discern between the wet feathers clumping on the birds breast. No bib was present yet. The bird appeared to be successfully hunting with a wait and pursuit tactic. It would take flight for short distances over the corn stubble, but remained in the same fluddle field the entire time (6:21am-7:10am).
