First caught off guard by the call I heard, and quickly found the bird sitting on my deck rail before it flew to a nearby oak tree. This dove was slightly larger than the usual Mourning Doves, and a bit more rotund. The diagnostic white wing stripe was seen, as was the striking wing pattern and white tail feathers when it flew. It had a blue eye ring, and the tail was squared off, not pointed or tapered like Mourning Dove's tail. Interestingly, the last WWDO seen in Clay County was in July and October 2022 at a residence almost due north of mine, about 2.48 miles (4.00 km or 20 blocks) away. The odds of it being the same bird seem remote, but it's an intriguing statistic. With the heavy cloud cover this morning, the attached photos are little more than diagnostic. Audio file also included.
