観察結果の詳細
Observed for about 30 minutes through both binoculars and scope. Approximate distance of about 950ft according to google maps. It was overcast, but not extremely dark. The bird showed a white head and underparts and a dark grey but not black mantle. Wide, white tertial skirt. Broad white trailing edge on the open wings. White tongue tips were evident on P6-8, while present but slightly less noticeable on P5. Outer webs of P9-10 were black extending back to the primary coverts. I was unable to determine color of inner webs in the field and my photographs do not make it clear either. Both P9 and P10 had white mirrors. Underwing the primaries were pale grey. The legs were noticeably pink, especially when compared to the nearby Herring Gulls. The bill was yellow, brighter than perhaps expected, this seems to be normal for fresh spring plumage. The upper and bottom edges ran parallel to each other from the base to the tip. There was a reddish gonydeal spot. Size was similar to the Herring Gulls.
