We initially started looking for the boisterous band of bohemians at the bank parking lot where they were seen yesterday. Not seeing any sign of them we quickly made our way to the area of the Market Mill Apartments; and found them upon our arrival calling and roosting in a tree across from a small commemorative park with a handful of hip high red berry laden bushes tucked in behind a low wrought iron fence. The birds would drop down from their perches every 10-15 minutes to vigorously and voraciously feed on the firery red fruit. Towards the end of our visit some birds started foraging the fallen fruit on the ground. Additionally, the birds would sporadically drop to the top of a low flat top roof to most likely drink collected roof water from the recent snow and rain. I tried creating a temporary watering hole on the pavement with snow and water for them to drink from, which worked yesterday in an effort to divert them from drinking at an oil sheened parking lot puddle. However, because the birds had already keyed in on a roof reservoir, they did’t use the man made puddle at the time of our departure. These cheerful, colorful, crested nomadic wanders provided us a thrilling 90 minutes of joyful entertainment!
