#17 1726 MERL Spotted from East 114th Street feeding on a water tower. I sensed that it was a small falcon but couldn’t confirm until I walked and jogged to East 116th Street. It was perched on the water tower on 421 East 116th Street and off by 1736. • From a distance it looked like a small juvenile Peregrine or a large and dark Kestrel. This was from two blocks away. I was able to view the bird just east of the water tower along East 116th Street. The dark, streaked chest, dark head, and the light lines across the tail were visible with binoculars. The images show these features poorer than the binocular views which were steadied on nearby trees. The attitude of this falcon is nothing like an American Kestrel which is both neat and petite. • Observation on iNaturalist: https://www.inaturalist.org/observations/201326026
