Likely continuing loon reported by Michael Bernard. Benji and I observed this loon for a little over an hour through our scopes, and we arrived at Pacific based on the following field marks. When the bird stretched its wings, we could see a chinstrap. This fieldmark was also visible when the bird swam, but it was definitely harder to detect. Size also stood out. While we never had it near a Common Loon, it did closely associate with Horned Grebes. Next to the grebes, it was moderately larger, but not hulkingly so. The moderate disparity in size was enough that it often required some effort to relocate the bird in the raft when we took our eyes off it to focus on other things. The back and neck were both dark, imparting little overall contrast. The shape of the head also stood out as more rounded and less blocky than Common, and we didn’t notice a white mid-way break in the neck. Very poor digiscoped photos attached.
