Continuing in the NW corner of the main marsh pond and viewed 6x briefly, but well. First spotted while standing on the new(ish) rocky areas along the overflow channel that leads from main marsh pond to Pilarcitos Creek. Sparrow with rufous wing patch, buffy flanks, fine streaks on a pale throat, gray nape. Medium-sized sparrow that appears brighter in color tones than the many SOSP here today. Despite having quick looks through the binos, I managed to miss a few times with the camera. I’ve been trying to get solid looks at this bird here for months(!) so I am satisfied with the views and hoping I might grab a photo with some (more!) patience… Popped up later in tall reeds near discarded blue cooler and was immediately chased back down by SOSP. It then started moving along the berm to the NW where I got a couple more looks with Alane G.. It seemed pretty casual and not flighty, just minding its own business while hopping and moving along the muddy areas between the clumps of darker green grasses. Photos.
