Yo! Continuing luscious Laridae. Bob got on it soon after exiting the car. We were already juiced due to just having spent time with the Louisiana Waterthrush, and this, our target bird for the day, was the cherry on top. We spent time with the BHGU as it moved around with the flock at the creek mouth. An “interesting” person kept walking through the flock, and the birds would get up, fly a bit, and settle. Eventually, the bird took off over the ocean and south. Superficially like a Bonaparte’s Gull, but noticeable red bill (proximal 1/3) and red legs. In flight, the upperwing showed that the outer (3-4) primaries were white, tipped black, and the underwing (primaries) were significantly darker than would be expected on BOGU. Managed some shaky video. So good!
