観察結果の詳細
One of several continuing birds first found by Sean McAllister. Initially seen 500m north of parking area when an off-leash dog flushed the bird south right past me. Watched for about 25 minutes as it foraged in the wrack line gradually working its way south. Foraging behavior looked very similar to other plovers - walk a short distance, stop, eat prey on surface, repeat. Moderate in size, smaller than BBPL and larger than SEPL. Plumage a warm sandy brown (blended in well with dunes) with a buffy-peach wash on sides of breast, orange-brown nape, white throat with corners extending up around cheeks, and clean white underparts. Legs greenish-gray. White wing stripe and dark tip of tail seen in flight. Did not hear any calls. Even in basic plumage, an absolutely beautiful bird. Immensely grateful for the intimate encounter with this declining species.
