I tried to count those across the channel, but was interrupted by DCCOs flying out and checked them. Then 80 of the oystercatchers flew in close and landed to roost on the edge of the flats as the tide started to fall. 22 still on the far side of the channel. One photo shows about 70 oystercatchers in flight, included to represent numbers. A number of banded birds--details and photos... Best photos of bands included. I think I have the following that are readable, with photos in this order: (1) K4 (or 4K). (yellow band with black alphanumeric) (2) 2 5 (25 or 52?). (yellow band with black alphanumeric) (3) 7 0? Or 7 c? (yellow band with black alphanumeric) (4) AR5 (red band with white alphanumeric) (5) CM (or MC?) (yellow band with black alphanumeric) (6) CHP. (yellow band with black alphanumeric) (7) H9. (yellow band with black alphanumeric) Notes from the field, in the order sighted... Banded oystercatchers, yellow bands with black letters: Notes from sightings: (1) K4 (or 4K). (2) 2 5 (25 or 52?). (3) 7 0? Or 7 c? (4) CHP. (5) H9. (6) I wrote 5?2… but is this 25 again? (7) 7?0? Probably a repeat sighting of the 3rd. (8) And a red one with white letters: maybe AR5. (There's a CM I didn't note in the field.)
