lifer!! And My first target species seen on this trip! The hide I was waiting at was intended for bamboo partridges, but for the first 30 minutes or so the only bird that came was a collared finchbill (who stayed for quite a long time which I appreciate). I turned around to the other side of the hide where a thick branches with corn pieces and insects (mealworms maybe?) as food to attract birds was placed. I suddenly saw 3 of the birds eating on the branch (didn’t see them coming!) and immediately started taking some photos, on the left I also saw motion in the undergrowth and soon after some more birds emerged. There were at least 5 adult/immature partridges visible at the same time as well as recently fledged bird (maybe there were more and some were hiding in the grass as they are quite small and were cautious and only came onto the branch once). They stayed for about 10 minutes before all leaving together to the right, moving almost invisibly in the dense vegetation (it would’ve been impossible for me to find them in that kind of environment if they didn’t come out to the feeder!) I didn’t hear them vocalize but later at another hide I did hear and record some distant calls. I really enjoyed the partridges’ presence and they are very beautiful birds (and their faces look angry due to the bill shape!)
