cucucucu calls at seconds 7, 15, and 20
観察結果の詳細
As we were paddling downstream, we flushed a bittern-shaped bird from the water's edge about 20 ft in front of us. It joined a similar bird in a small tree with bare branches about 100 ft distant, and they both flew out of sight. We then immediately began hearing a repeated cucucucu call from the direction they had flown. 10-15 minutes later, a little way downstream, a bird flew low across the water about 15 ft in front of us, coming from the side of the river where we had seen and heard the other birds. The bird landed at the opposite shoreline and disappeared into the vegetation. From the brief looks we had, we noticed a light-colored buffy (yellow-brown) bittern/heron-like bird with a scrunched in neck, dangling yellow legs in flight, smaller than a green heron, bigger than a Virginia rail. No way to know if this was a third bird or one of the ones we had just seen.
