観察結果の詳細
3 birds observed resting in a tree close to the sea. The small group consisted of at least one male, since vocalizing was heard. The birds flew to a large Jackfruit tree, where they continued their foraging; the pigeons was seen feeding on the leaves of the tree, biting off small pieces of the old leaves. Following eating, the birds rested for about 35 minutes, before flying off, one at a time right after each other, two of them swooping close to the ground at they took off. The pigeons did not seem to be bothered by our presence, despite loud talking by some bypasses. Locals explained that the species is common around here, and that hunting still continues, reporting that up to ten individuals can be collected during a single day. Encouraging that the species remain relatively common, but very concerning that such hunting pressure persists.
