an unmistakable male bird calling and flying over the high point at which we stood. Observed at very close distance. A large starling-like bird was seen far away in the upper reaches of the Dagwan valley. I followed it with the binoculars for a minute or so as it was making some local sorties near the rock faces at a distance which precluded the identification of the bird. Thankfully, the bird stopped making these sorties and started flying straight towards us at a good speed, and crossed us at a very close distance (10-15 meters). As the bird was being followed by binoculars, the fact that it was a Grandala became very clear. At such close distance there is no possibility of mistaking its identity. It was a male, brilliant indigo blue. It passed quite quickly and moved away in a jiffy. I managed to get a few record shots as evidence that it was a male grandala. I have attached the shots I could manage on ebird. Although of poor quality, the colours and the silhouette points to a grandala male.
