I was sitting in my car in the Umpqua Community College parking lot and heard an empid calling, a Dusky/Gray type. I went to find it, photographed and videoed it. In my first few glances I thought I saw downward tail-wagging, which is what I hoped for (still need Gray for Douglas). But when I got more extended looks, and this video, it was mostly upward tail-wagging, not the usual downward tail wagging I'm used to with Grays. On the other hand, I don't recall seeing Duskies wagging this much; it actually seems kind of bizarre to me for a Dusky, but ... I've had my mind on flowers, snails, and salamanders recently, and perhaps I just don't recall this in Duskies. It appears to have a Dusky Fly bill: it is completely horn-colored underneath (can see best in photos), rather dull, and no black tip. A Gray usually has a paler lower mandible and sharp black tip. To me, Gray's usually have a thinner looking bill too, versus this pencil-lead shape.
