🔴 **very rare; county bird!! While observing a group of Bonaparte's gulls on the water just north of the breakwall, I noticed a bird that appeared larger and paler in color. It was difficult to determine if this was due to the sunlight or if the bird truly had a different coloration. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the curve on its hood was different from what I typically see and its black feathers were immaculate. After briefly losing sight of the bird, I spotted it again on the jetty. It had longer legs that were a darker shade of pink than the Bonaparte's gulls, and its bill was a dark red color. I promptly sent out an RBA to alert others of the sighting. As the bird took flight and headed south, I could see its diagnostic dark underwings. Suddenly, all of the other gulls flew away, causing me to lose track of the bird for a while. Despite my efforts to relocate it, I was unable to do so, but I remain hopeful that it is still in the area.
