After a sighting of an interesting godwit on Dec 16 by Gary Poole, Ray Wershler and I relocated the bird during the Halifax/Dartmouth Christmas Bird Count which I was able to photograph. We were able to see and photograph the clear white underwings with black trailing edges and dark leading edges of wings. The straight bill had extensive pink from base of bill to about mid-way to tip. The bird was standing when we first saw it on the edge of exposed grasses in a tidal area. As we waited for the tide to rise more, the grasses became flooded and it left for higher ground a km to two south to Rainbow Haven Provincial Park. We located it once more before the light diminished. Photos included here and I believe it represents just the third record of BTGO for Nova Scotia. Photos taken earlier on Salt Marsh Trail.
