Zebu owner working the land found the nest. We paid 20k each to him to take us there but we didn’t realize he was going to flush bird. After seeing the female off the nest for a few min then returning, we waited back for a pair change. Male came in and swapped spots! So both incubate. Asked him about nest and he said 4 eggs today- white with dark spotting. I assume not too many nests of this species have been studied. Nest was on edge of clearing (for zebu) along stream that was partly forested in the pandanus that was the tree at the very end of the forest patch. It was possible to see part of the nest and bird on it by standing in the t stream but really not worth it. We only waiting about 1 hour for pair swap, which happened around 8:15-30. This was the 2nd Masoala specialty I was hoping to see, and i think the rarest species (in terms of eBird sightings) that we saw on the entire trip.
