Alerted to the presence of a Sharpe-tailed Sandpiper by Joel Trick, I immediately joined Joel and Patty Trick and Becca Jabs at the Hillcrest Road ponds. The juvenile bird was was easily found feeding on the shore of the pond nearest the road and was about the same size as the Pectoral Sandpipers which were in the immediate area. The rusty cap and bold supercilliun were easily seen immediately distinguishing the bird from the Pectoral Sandpipers. The buffy breast was finely streaked and the primaries and secondaries were rusty in colour. The bill was yellowish at the base and the tip darker in colour, and the feet were pale yellowish. The belly and undertail coverts were white. The details of the outstretched wing are seen in the submitted photo. The bird was not heard.
