Continuing female hybrid observed and photographed by Peter Woods, previously photographed on 1/25/2005. Associating with Canvasback females. Scaup parent is likely Lesser Scaup based on head shape and frequency of the species on Lost Lagoon. Same individual also photographed 2/12/2005. Dark brown head with dark eyes and sloping bill profile similar to Canvasback, with strong contrast between the brown chest and pale grey flanks, but white feathering at bill base and peaked crown reminiscent of Lesser Scaup. Bill is black with a pale subterminal patch.
