*High Count - Minimum. Encounters with NSWO at 4 distinct locations. Site 1) Heard and saw perched 1 owl on our way to the fields at the second field, and heard an owl on the way back at the first field, both times coming from the same patch of woods, so can assume 1 owl. Site 2) Heard twice and saw a flyover of an owl on the trail through Spencer Brook, noting streaking underneath, small size, and response to whistle. First heard at the start of the trail, and then again about 2/5ths of the way down the trail, accompanied by the flyover. Assumed second owl. Site 3) Heard multiple times along E/SE edge of Newbury Field/woods, in the young pines. Responding to whistled imitation. First heard right after entering Newbury field, and once again further down the trail, accompanied by a flyover. Heard again at the second spot on the way back. Could have been 2 birds, but better to assume 1, making this the third owl. Site 4) Heard multiple times and seen once on the SW edge of Newbury Field, once again in dense cluster of younger pines, the fourth owl. It seemed like there could have been more, as the encounters at sites 2 and 3 were somewhat spaced out. But I feel that the 4 Sites were distinct enough to assume that there were 4 separate owls, at least.
