NOTES: "March or April 1968; Dislplay calls by males + wing whistles; Calls 0-.18;.18 wing sounds + calls; .50-1.00 nil; 1.00 wing sounds-1.22 wing sounds" (WWHG) [This cut begins with five relatively good examples of the "zeee-ZEEE" call (0:15-0:26, 0:40, 0:47), which is described and pictured in Figure II on page 663 of Cramp et al. (1977. The birds of Europe, the Middle East and North Africa. Birds of the Western Palearctic. Vol. 1. Oxford University Press, Oxford), but it is not really mentioned in BNA. These are apparently the typical calls given by displaying males. The latter part of the recording is dominated by the "whistling" sound produced by the wings when the birds fly around (0:33-2:00). Quality changed from 2-3 to 2, 2-3 (the first part is by far the BEST) - CAM - 18 March 2005]. Other Behaviors: Advertise.
