*rare; first-cycle; unusual but not entirely unexpected new species for the park. Oddly, I glanced up at a gull while driving in that gave me juv Lesser Black-backed vibes. I stopped, and lost it, gave up, and then spotted a similar Gull overhead asI climbed up the landfill. I got binocs on it, identified it as lesser Black-backed, and then scrambled for my camera which was not where I thought it was in my car and watched as it drifted away. Just when I thought I lost it though, it turned around and flew back past me for photos and headed out to the SE. a slender Herring-type with narrow, pointed wings, an all black bill, spotted appearance on pale underparts, pale rump and maybe tail base, dark terminal band, and dark secondary coverts giving a double dark band in the wing.
