Two adults and a fledgling! We got photos of both adults, and when we looked underneath one of them we spotted a fledgling wandering around through the mud. Davis got a decent digiscope of the Fledgling. I'll have to look into breeding records. The adults were tall shorebirds with rufous/orange heads and a bold black and white wing. Most diagnostic feature is the recurved bill. Photos to be added of all three individuals. One of these photos is an adult with the fledgling to the left. Davis' photo is of the young bird. At first I thought the young bird was a second Phalarope, but upon closer examination it was a fluffy small avocet with a dark head, short bill with a slight curve to it, and a wing patch similar to the adults, but disheveled looking. Overall coloration of the young bird was more grey. The adults had the bold black and white on their wings, whereas the young bird had a thinner white stripe with grey/brown coloration going up the wing and back with some spotty pale patches.
