Our first Brown-crested Flycatcher was along the entry road, very shortly after we turned off Bush Hwy. About a third of the way between paved parking and the river (via the trail at the beginning of parking), I encountered two more Brown-crested Flycatchers. One was slightly smaller and seemed a good candidate for a first year bird. When we were driving the exit road, we had two more adult Brown-crested about halfway between paved parking and horse-staging. These various birds were identified by at least two of the following markers (vs. Ash-throated Flycatcher): big head (seems slightly out-of-proportion), big bill (compared to Ash-throated), brighter yellow belly than Ash-throated, rufous center stripe running vertically down the center of the undertail (no darkish scalloping or thin end bar like Ash-throated).
