As with the Unknown duck sp. entry above this bird was a little beyond my weakening vision. Thanks to Kurt Hennige for the identification. The bird was located in the bay area of this location near to where there is little areas of current created where an old crumbling cement bridge is located with narrow passages below. It was not near to the Mallards and was thus alone. My first instinct was that it was a Pied-billed Grebe as viewed at a good distance (overall shape and likelihood) for me through my not too strong binoculars; however, when getting home and looking at my photos I was uncomfortable leaning one way or the other. There was one point while observing it that it slowly lowered itself straight down disappearing under the water's surface just as I have seen these birds do before which really had me thinking Pied-billed at the time. Playing it safe. Thanks again for the identification.
