*rare from shore, but the more expected jaeger this time of year. Initially was alerted to it when the foraging flock of BOGU in the inlet got in a tight ball and flew high up in the sky. Eventually spotted an all dark jaeger in a very powerful, almost relaxed, but still direct flight line(not the rushed and hurried flight style of PAJA) towards a group of gulls just beyond the tip of the jetty. The jaeger made quick work of a RBGU that it overpowered within seconds as it attacked from below and stole its meal. It then turned back around towards the inlet and disappeared. Entire viewing period gave impression of a very large and thick jaeger. Photos show a broad-winged and short-handed jaeger with a wide and short tail. The deepest part of belly is in the middle of the bird. Also, equal in size to the RBGU it was chasing.
