観察結果の詳細
We identified two greater yellowlegs and then encountered two additional yellow legs in the Fernhill March area that appeared to be much smaller. They were actively feeding and sometimes running through the shallow water. Their bills were longer than their heads, but not that much longer, and did not appear to be upturned. In terms of size, they appeared to be more comparable to the long-billed dowitchers. If they would have appeared along with the Great Yellowlegs and were smaller in comparison, I would have ID'd as Lesser Yellowlegs. However, I've found distinguishing between Greater and Lesser to be challenging, and did not feel confident enough about the ID here without that direct comparison (particularly in light of the Lesser coming up as "Rare" on eBird.
