Continuing bird found by Darryl Beach on 07 Oct, and presumably the same bird found by John Green at nearby Cactus City rest area on 04 Oct. We found it foraging in the fruiting palm in the main yard, then working its way low to the ground along the driveway on the west side of the main house. It moved back and forth between the front (south) and west sides of the main house, on the ground, in the shrubs and trees, and up in the fan palms. This was a medium-sized passerine, slightly larger than a Catharus thrush, almost entirely gray in plumage except for a black cap, blackish tail, and chestnut under tail coverts. The back was a darker shade of gray than the rest of the bird. The irides were dark, and the legs, feet, and bill were black. It called a few times, giving a rather low-pitched grunt.
