One of several continuing birds. Roosting with other gulls on causeway. Appears to be a 3cy bird, with lots of dark slaty gray feathers mixed with worn brown ones on mantle. The remaining brown feathers in wings looked very worn. When resting noted mixed old/new feathers in lesser, median, and greater coverts and tertials. Outer primaries lacked white spots, inner primaries gray with white tips, and secondaries dark brownish-black with white tips and edges. Legs dull pinkish, with only a very slight hint of yellow around the intertarsal joint. In flight noted wings mottled with dark gray and brown. On the left wing the inner greater and median secondary coverts were very worn/some missing, while the outer appeared fresh and newly replaced, and the lesser coverts were very brown. On the right wing the inner greater and median coverts were missing entirely, exposing the base of the secondaries, and the outer feathers on both also looked newly replaced. The molt in the lesser coverts and scapulars of the right wing appears to have progressed further than in the left. The inner primary coverts on both wings were newly replaced while the outer were older feathers. Slightly smaller than HERG when resting and standing, and nowhere near the size of a GBBG. Apparently have been 4+ individuals here lately, as this bird is noticeably different than the one photographed by G. Hodgkins on 15 Aug and the two immatures photographed by L. Seitz on 11 Aug. After seeing one bird with Luke he apparently saw a second one after I left. So there are now at least 5+ individuals here.
