A group of noisy miners were kicking up a fuss and when I went to investigate and found the cause of their distress observed the bird in attached photos.. As I had disturbed it the bird initially flew a short distance of about 20m and landed where I was able to photograph, it was very unsteady and uncomfortable on its perch but hung around long enough for me to get some good photos.before it flew deeper into the canopy. The area he was in was on the Brighton Road side in the bush near the children's playground about 200m N of the public toilets.. Identified from photos with help from Jack Whiting, blackish crown feathers with slight crest, rufous underwing with pale wing band, black tipped primaries and barring at end of tail, feathered trousers on legs.
