Scaled Quail in classic outward-facing circle braving the cold weather. I couldn't resist getting a photograph of this behavior I had seen many times but NEVER out in the open like this.

Several times we counted 40+ in the yard eating seed and cracked corn I had scattered on the ground on top of the ice. At one point I seen a small covey sitting in the open in their classic outward-facing circle braving the cold weather. I couldn't resist getting a photograph of this behavior I had seen many times but NEVER out in the open like this.
