*high count; made two counts about five minutes apart, with birds in very different positions on the fields: first count was 740 and second was 735 (!). Photos and audio to show large numbers: I walked among them and most birds were calling, but I only heard a minimum of three American Crows on the flock periphery and saw no larger birds in Evans of the central flock. Fifteen more Fish flew in as I was leaving. Previous high count of Fish Crows in Suffolk County was 475 on this checklist by Ryan Schain. It may be notable that both were within the same roughly 2-week period, which may be a time when Fish Crows are migrating north and perhaps staging in advance of a push to the north. I interpreted this as a pre-roosting flock on an overcast day (interestingly, American Crows were gathering in Franklin Park in the same way, although about 1/15th as many).
