This great little bird popped up during our wader count at Awarua Bay on Nov 6th. Just managed to take a couple of shots.....before it dived for cover again. Good to see they haven't all disappeared since the recent fire.Now known as Bowdleria punctatus punctatus - South Island Fernbird, one of five extant subspecies of Fernbird. (Checklist of the Birds of New Zealand 4th Ed. published by Te Papa Press & Ornithological Society of New Zealand 2010.). Elevation: 0 m. Date added to IBC: June 21, 2016.
