Trying to get two low upside-down v-shaped calls peaking at 850 Hz. 50% cloudy, 76°F, down in ravine in very brushy second-growth slope. Can't tell how high, as there are some 25-30 m tall emergent tree; birds 30-50 m away. 2 km from Malikan, 1.5 km from ocean. Did flush large, very rusty pigeon; prob 25 m away. Very viney forest (monsoonal?) with lots of young, thin vertical trees in understory, thin and medium-sized vines both free and strangling trees; canopy of scattered 25-30 m trees. Post-monsoon, so very dry.
