A Magellanic Horned Owl perching, dozing, preening and sometimes looking around. The Magellanic Horned Owl (Bubo magellanicus) has until recently been considered as a race of Bubo virginianus, but it has different calls and DNA profile. This bird was resting in a street tree in Farellones in the Andes above Santiago. Elevation: 2395 m. Date added to IBC: February 16, 2019.
