Female Japanese Green Woodpecker Feeds Chicks at Nesting Hole Opening. In my experience around this area of Japan, the Japanese Green Woodpecker (aogera) is difficult to see, let alone to photograph or video record. These woodpeckers are wary of humans but my shots of them have mostly been around breeding time. She has little choice but to feed them. Two days later, the nest hole was deserted. Elevation: 195 m.
