makes a diagnostic call around 0:34 right during my voice announcement; oddly, I was fairly certain I recorded other calls but this is the onyl one I hear on the recording

Probably the expected subspecies here? We stopped in small patch of mesquite just W of N end of lake and saw this juv well (pale-based bill and some juv feather on the face, very pale, consistent with eastern ssp) foraging; we heard it well and MJI made a poor documentary audio recording with an iPhone.
