When I arrived Ed Wetzel was already present, and no one joined us before I left. At first it looked like the gull would be a no-show as nothing was on or around the snags. Around 7:40 am Ed called out "Here it comes!" Gull flew in quite high and circled over dam area and out of sight for a minute before returning and settling on it's favorite snag. In flight gull's wings, back and tail were darker gray than Ring-billed with a thin white trailing edge to wings and tail. The head was paler than wings, but in the early light to me looked pale gray with darker speckles. At rest the white edges of wings were clearly visible. Pale gray underparts and very pale rump, which was visible in flight. I could not see the red bill until it perched on the snag and turned it's head so the early sunlight lit it up. At that distance, I was never able to see the dark bill tip. Legs/feet were black. My photos are very poor poor blurry blobs! Just too far for my lens. Continuing for several days this location, and photographed by several individuals. Much thanks to Ed Wetzel for locating this bird today for my lifer!
