観察結果の詳細
First observation at 1035. 1 counted on property. 1 individual(s) singing. First sighting at this site! Heard it singing along the restored section of the stream in reach 3 and spotted it near an upstream pointing "V" formed from two logs that were imbedded in the channel when it was constructed during summer 2018. Watched the dipper foraging for several minutes, both dipping its beak or head into the water and also submerging completely. We saw it capture aquatic invertebrates (unidentified) a few times. Singing was infrequent and fairly quiet; it spent most of its time foraging while we observed it. Did not hear or see it on the return several hours later. This section of the stream seems well-oxygenated, is not incised, and is surrounded by a disturbed floodplain with a community of mostly non-native ruderal species and grasses (eg. Kochia scoparia, Agropyron intermedium). There is essentially no shrub cover along the banks yet, though there are a few sapling Alnus incana and Salix exigua that were planted during restoration. Detections (number 15-minute intervals in which the species was detected): 2 on property.
