Stake out. See photos. Found this morning by Dave Weber. Decidedly smaller and paler than adjacent Marbled Godwits. Stronger supercilium; contrasting with dark cap. Shorter legs cf. Marbled especially tibia. Primary projection evident, longer than Marbled Godwits. Belly and undertail coverts white, lacking cinnamon tones of Marbled Godwit. Tail and uppertail coverts white with dark transverse bars, evident when bird preened and in flight. Underwings pale with dark mottling, also lacking cinnamon tones of Marbled. Mantle and wing coverts dark brown with pale feather edges and large triangular pale notches on the tertials, these markings larger than on Marbled and light buff but lacking in cinnamon tones. This pattern conveyed a more coarsely marked upperparts. Neck and breast a uniform brownish-gray. Bill pinkish at base with dark tip, slightly upswept. Legs dark. Based on small size, I judge this bird to be a female. Based on strong upperpart pattern I believe it to be a juvenile. Rump pattern suggests Siberian form baueri or menzibieri. Photos show a few plain gray feathers emerging on the back suggesting it is starting to molt into formative plumage.
