**1st Island Record I saw this bird on my initial scan (from a distance and looking into the sun) and assumed it was a black-bellied plover. I carefully moved to observe the bird in better light and was surprised to see it was actually a Golden-Plover! Given the location and time of year I took careful field notes and plenty of photos. This bird was a juvenile, with crisp clean underparts and uniform fresh looking flight feathers. The underparts were white with blurry light brown streaking that was vertical on the throat and neck and horizontal from the chest through the vent. The upper parts were generously washed with a beautiful gold. The wings were relatively long, sticking out beyond the tail, with at least 4 primaries extending beyond tertials. The head was small, it had a prominent light supercillium that contrasted greatly with the crown, which was streaked black and gold. It had a thin black bill that struck me as slightly shorter than the average Pacific Golden-Plover.
