NOTES: LNS notes: Approximately 29 minutes into this recording, a relatively loud, double pulsed sound is heard, followed by two more, 1:40 and 3:25 later, respectively. The amplitudes of these sounds was very high relative to the humpback, so their levels were lowered 8 db relative to the rest of the recording. The segment of this recording with the pulses was catalogued separately, unaltered, under LNS# 110886. 15Oct2003 SAS. Reel notes: "3 multipulses = 1 click. Lots of echoes. R-130. 2020 to 2105. Humpback calls. 21 Feb 1972. 3 full calls. Swells, ship roll noise. Distant ship propellers heard. Second animal heard in b.g." Tape log: "SHL-1-18 21 Feb. 1972. Time 2020. On R-130 xphone, engines off. Reel starts off with end of old call. Have a distant ship's propeller beats too. Animal's signal level poor to fair at the reel start. A second animal is heard in the distance. Upon new call start, animal signal level gets to stronger level. This animal is so located (area) that there are good echoes come back (bottom pinnacles, etc.). First call signal level is moderate - dist. ship interference. Second call signal level is moderate. At the very end of call 2, a very strong pulse is heard, an echo follows it. See gram, these are multi pulse (2) in (1) which we have recorded in other series, (see TRI-22 series). They have approx. the same echo distance as the whale's earlier latest calls which showed echoes too. A good hi freq click is heard about 3/4" from reel end, it is heard at the tail of the calling animals earlier phase signals. Animal's signal level is moderate, not good for CSG. The calls are short. Good pulses info. End time 2105." SEAOCEAN.
