Crazy! By far the most either of us have ever seen in Oregon, and on eBird this is a new high count for the state! Very conservative number. We both counted 3 birds on the mudflats southwest of the viewing platform (there easily could have been more here, as the flock was quite distant), later we counted 16 (!) birds from the mudflats to the east of the platform. Regularly had 3-4 birds in a scope view at once. Although we are fairly confident that there were at least 19 birds present we opted to only mark down 16 due to the fact that this is a very high count already and that there is a small chance that that some of the birds from the two locations mentioned above could have changed locations and been double counted. All appeared to be juveniles. All had the short stubby bill, plain brown scapulars (with no or very little rufous color present) and back, dark ear coverts, capped appearance and prominent supercillium typical of this species. Both of us are familiar with SESA identification. We took photos of multiple individuals, which will be uploaded shortly.
