On July 22, 2018 I got a glimpse of what I thought was a GNLA fly and dart into the dense understory to the left of the trail after the small wooded foot bridge. It was towhee sized with long tail and rusty brown back. We went back this morning July 23, and quietly searched for this thrush in the rain. As we were about to leave the thrush began to call. We reentered the forest via the small wooden bridge located off of the entrance road. about 30 feet into the forest. the Greater Necklaced Laughing Thrush was singing deep into the tangled mass of tree limbs and low hanging leaves. The attached sound recording is our attempt in a heavy rain to validate this species. Oddly in late September 2017 we heard this species singing in this location.
